I remember when the movie was on Kung Fu Theaters
The classic Films Are great !!! Keep the action coming.
- John Anderson, Houston | January 15, 2010
This movie is diffently in the top 10 of Shaw Brother Movies.
The movie that got me hooked way back in 1980 was DEADLY MANTIS starring David Chiang. It was soon after that , that I saw 5 Deadly Venoms. I was already hooked. The Shaw Brothers whole Collection is what I want and not just the Venom Collection. Two Champions Of Shaolin, The Kid With The Golden Arm, 5 Deadly Venoms, Deadly Mantis, Iron Flag, Super Ninja, Master Killer, Invincible Shaoiln, Mad Monkey, Avenging Eagle are my top 10 favorites. There are so many more greats, I cant name them all. I do hope that DD gets them all, as I will buy them . I have already bought all the ones DD has put out so far. I recommend you all buy them all. Each one is a classic.
- Patrick Carner, Hinesville Georgia | January 17, 2010
Finally SOME SHAWS
Finally DD is getting back to getting some Shaws out there. They have the rights to the best of the catalog but we are getting slow drips. Not to bash, we're just lucky to get these in R1 format but I'm sure most of us old schoolers would rather have Shaws the Dog bite dog ECT..........
Bring on 8 Diagram Pole fighters I bet you can't keep it on the shelves = BIG $$$$ in sales "Hint Hint"
- HELLZWINDSTAFF, Los Angeles | December 21, 2009
It's very classic and authentic kung fu of all time!!
The coolest part is that they are not actors, but also a real martial artists. Therefore, there are no fak fighting scenes.
- Clark C Penn, Long Beach, California | January 06, 2010
It's about time
Finally, DD releases this. Sure to be a treat, but I would like to see special features and some indepth info.
- Arigo A, Texas | June 20, 2009
I love this film and can't wait to upgrade to the Dragon Dynasty release of this classic.
More heavily plotted than many other kung fu features of the time period, FIVE VENOMS keeps the viewer interested with it's "mystery" plotline and well constructed characters. It also has a bit of an Italian "giallo" feel with it's gruesome murders and torture scenes. I love the horror elements that creep into this classic kung fu film, and have to site the opening of this film as one of my all-time favorites!
This film made stars out of it's leads, and after seeing it you'll understand why. A must have for any fan of Asian action films.
- Kung Fu Bob, Pennsylvania, Temple of the Dragon Monkey | June 20, 2009
Great Movie but Low stars for Special Features
Don't get me wrong there is no doubt that this new release of one of the greatest martial arts movie that is not a Bruce Lee movie will be great BUT I GAVE IT LOW STARS DUE TO ONE REASONS AND ONE REASON ONLY AND THAT IS SPECIAL FEATURES.Dragon Dynasty should have dug deeper to like the history of the movie or even a documentry on each of the talented actor of this fine masterpiece at least just anything for older fans and younger fans to enjoy.
- DVDMovieBuffer, New York | August 13, 2009
looks good
never watched it so im glad i finally can
- BRUCE, ALASKA | June 20, 2009
Classic. Awesome. Must Have. One of the best ever.
Even if Kobe or LeBron surpasses Jordan does it mean they were better? What about Ali vs Tyson? There's something special about being a pioneer. This movie influenced hearts and minds - it sparked a new movement of Kung Fu crazed fans. This movie got me and a bunch of others into martial arts, and I'll never forget it. Loved the Snake style.
- Johnny Williams, Atlanta, GA | June 21, 2009

I own an old DVD of 5 Deadly Venoms and what a great flick even though the transfer was poor.
Looking forward to see what magic DD does to the master.
Rock on DD.

- David Grande, Concord,MA | June 23, 2009
The Measure of All Kung-Fu Films!
The Saturday afternoon my brother and I caught this changed our world forever. The fantastic characters and fight sequences were like superheroes, but we were actually watching it happen on-screen without special effects. Definitely a classic that set the bar for many kung-fu films since.
- Cisco Wong, New York, NY | June 23, 2009
Ol' SkooL Kung Fu Comes Again.
DD does it again with yet another old school classic film that started it all. The only thing missing are the other special features besides the always informative and enjoying commentary by hk expert Bey Logan.
- Ramon V., L.A,Calif | June 24, 2009
Now number two... practiced the snake style.
This is without a doubt one of the greatest films in the Shaw Bros. canon! Big ups to DD for releasing this gem in what we already know will be a gorgeously rendered presentation! Keep the Shaw Bros. titles comin'!!!!!!!
- James "Pixote" Ramirez, Salt Lake City | June 25, 2009

- Matt, Stockholm, Sweden | June 27, 2009
An all time classic!!!
Everybody knows and loves this movie!! Seven more that need the DD treatment - Legend of a Fighter, Flying Guilloine pt 1 and pt 2, Blade of Fury, Avenging Eagle, Killer Constable, Spiritual Boxer. I could have named seven hundred but remaster these classics soon. Thanks
- R.J.B., Birmingham, Al. | June 28, 2009

- Lucky Lobo, Atlanta, Ga | July 05, 2009
Historic release
This release of Chang Cheh's the Five Venoms is a great moment for martial arts film enthusiasts. This is probably the single greatest Shaw Brothers film in my opinion, mainly because it is so unique out all the "Venom mob" movies. I have been stuck with a bootleg for a long time myself, and it is difficult to find a copy of this movie that isn't Region 3. Can't wait for this
- N/A, N/A | July 05, 2009
Hot!!!!
One of the best movies ever made. Not just any old martial arts movie. This is royalty shuts down most of the DD releses. Something to sing and shout about.
- Will, Atl | July 10, 2009

The ever enduring masterpiece of HK cinema along 36th chamber of shaoling....these films could never be surpassed....my next favorite with all the posion clan will be "Kid with The Golden Arm"......man! I know I will get some backlash,,,,,,bring it! :)

- Shawn Chavis, North Carolina | July 17, 2009
Yes !
Man, I can't wait for this one ! & I just want to agree with Rodney, we need "Kid with the Golden Arm" next. Reminds me of Friday Night Kung-Fu theater @ midnite growing up. "Venoms" & "Kid" were easily my two favs.
- Shawn S., Kentucky | July 17, 2009
Classic Martial Arts Masterpiece
Can't wait to replace my old copy of this great flick.

- Dwayne, Beacon, New York | July 20, 2009
A must have for any movie collector!
Ground breaking movie that establishes the group as the Venoms from that point forward. A Shaw Brothers classic!
- Richard, NJ | July 20, 2009
THE MOVIE IS AN ALL TIME "OLD SCHOOL" SHAW BROS CLASSIC
I ENJOYED THIS MOVIE WHEN I WAS MUCH YOUNGER AND CURRENTLY OWN A VERY DECENT COPY ON DVD FROM A SMALL DISTRUBUTOR BUT IM SURE DRAGON DYNASTY ALONG WITH CELESTIAL PICTURES WILL TRULY HAVE THIS MOVIE LOOKING AND SOUNDING GREAT THOUGH I AM SURPRISE THE RELEASE WILL NOT CONTAIN ANY MORE SPECIAL FEATURES LIKE THE ORGINIAL TRAILER AND INTERVIEWS WITH ANY OF THE SURVIVING "VENOMS" OR OTHER KUNG FU LEGENDS LIKE GORDON LIU DISCUSSING THE IMPACT OF THIS FILM; IM SURE EVEN QUENTIAN TARANTINO WOULD GIVE HIS "RAW" BUT COLORFUL OPINION ABOUT THIS FLICK. HOPEFULLY DOWN THE LINE YOU DRAGON DYNASTY MIGHT PULL OF ANOTHER "HEIST" AND PUT ON DVD ANOTHER OLD SCHOOL KUNG FU MOVIE THAT MADE AN IMPACT WHICH IS THE MYSTERY OF CHESSBOXING A.K.A. SHAOLIN CHESSMATE(GHOST FACE KILLER)
- EDDIE ANDERSON, QUEENS,NYC/ 7/22/09 | July 21, 2009
Love the Deadly Venoms!
One of my fav Kung Fu films of all time. This was one of my first martial arts DVD purchases and I've been a huge fan ever since. I've owned a copy for years but can't wait to get my hands on the DD version!
- shinydemon, Morgan Hill, CA | July 21, 2009
Classic Venom Rocks!!
Indeed, one of the best martial arts films of all times, as are so many of the Shaw Brother Collection. I just hope they're adding a new English soundtrack! The old one is too dated, and can be done better.
Rodney Rivera: You're right! "Kid with The Golden Arm" rocks, too. I hope to see that one along with "Fist of the White Lotus" and "Shaolin Executioner"!! But for god sake, please remake the English soundtracks with modern actors!!!
- Kung Fu Gene, San Jose, CA | July 21, 2009
Let's get the sequel out as well!
This along with the sequel and Heroes of the East, are three of the all-time classics. can't wait for my copy.
- Dave, Arkansas | July 21, 2009
Awesome Film
This film is legendary among Kung Fu movies. There are many great ones, but this film is at least in the top 5 greatest Kung Fu films of all time. Cant wait to hear Bey's Commentary!
- Louis, Tampa, Florida | July 21, 2009
It doesn't get any better than this.
Saw the move when I was 10 years old. I'm 40-something now and still watching the VHS version. Please get the entire venom collection. I already have 12 in my collection, most of which is on VHS. Do me and others the favor of having the entire Venom Collection on this site for purchase. Hurry Up!!!!
- Marian, Detroit, MI | July 22, 2009
This may be my FAVORITE kunf fu film of ALL TIME!!!
This is at the very least in my top 3 kung fu films ever...exceptional on every level for my tastes!
- Andy Brown, Spokane, WA | July 22, 2009
The Venom Mob boys are back!!!!!
This is my favorite MA movie of all time! It's when most of the actors actually knew Kung fu and not movie kung fu. In one word "OUTFRIGGINSTANDIN"!!!!
- Tyler Terrell Moore, Birmingham, Alabama | July 24, 2009
one of the best martial arts/kung fu movies of all time...a definite classic and must have for all karate fans worldwide

One of the best Kung Fu films of all time...
Like most people I 1st saw this movie when I was alittle kid back in the 80's and ever since then I was hooked on kung fu movies...I am 38 now..I personallt think that the venoms are than Bruce, dont care what anybody else thinks, Bruce was good, but the venoms are special..I hope that Dragon Dynasty releases all the movies the venoms did together..Kid with Golden Arms...Return of the Venoms..Invincible Shiolin...& there are a ton more...
- Rick Montoya, Sacramento, CA | July 27, 2009

Awsome Shaw Brothers movie. Second only to Chinese Super Ninjas
- Madman, Toronto | October 05, 2009
The best of the best of the best has finally arrived.
The 5 deadly venoms is the movie that sparked my interest into this wonderous journey of classical martial arts movies. This movie has it all from drama to humor to top knotch fight scenes that broke the barrier and introduced one of the best colabs ever to bless the screen, the 5 venom mob. I am very excited to own this version, even thou I have a copy on vhs, this will be like viewing this masterpiece all over again for the first time. I highly recommend you to pick up dragon dynasty version of this classic movie.
- Richard A Nieves, Norwalk, CT | July 27, 2009
More classics like this please
Back to the classics in a big way.
One if not the finest martial arts flicks ever
- Greg, PA - USA | July 28, 2009
Breathtaking, Perhaps the coolest fantasy Martial Arts film ever
Maybe not their best Kung Fu showcase (I think we saw far better in Avenging Warriors of Shaolin, Magnificent Ruffians and Crippled Avengers) but from a inaugrial voyage (If you don't count such earlier work as Life Gamble and marco polo) this is truely an extraordianry film
- Dom, Cali | July 29, 2009
CLASSIC
One of the most influential movies of all time. It crosses all racial and language barriers. The cast is phenomenal and i would put the VENOM GANG against any cast in martial srts cinema history.
- BRUCE, WASHINGTON DC | July 30, 2009
Took you long enough, Bey Logan
"Poison Clan Rocks The World" :D
Now we finally get to see the Centipede, Snake, Scorpion, Lizard, Toad, and the Disciple monopolize the screen, fully remastered, and stamped with the DD Seal. No more will I have to tolerate my Red Sun bootleg :D
- Ken Howard, Columbia, MD | July 31, 2009

- Drunken Bastard, Universe | August 07, 2009

- Lantern Jaw, Manchester | August 18, 2009
Awesome! A must have.
Finally, I have been waiting forever to pick up a remastered version of this film. The film looks great and glad to have the original Chinese language with subs. I wish there were more bonuses like 36th Chamber. Good job Dragon Dynasty
- Ran, Houston, TX | August 19, 2009
Good
Humm, NO extras? OK, we do get Beys commentary. But what about trailers? Interviews? Cool other extras??? And why is it on a DVD-5 with bit of unused disc space? At least we get a decent release of the classic.
- cheesedip, houston tx | August 25, 2009
Top Notch! The best!
I first saw this classic in early 80's on tv (channel 5)....loved it then as I love it now...it is good to see that DD is bringing the best of The Shaw Brothers collection with the old English dubbed version as well as the mandarin/cantonese "original" spoken version as well.....lovely....I hope that they would do the same with "my personal favorite"...."The Kid With The Golden Arms"
- Rodney Rivera, Ridgewood NY | August 25, 2009
awesome
just got this movie the other day and it looks so nice remastered!
- Manny, Shaolin | August 28, 2009
Looks great, more Venom flicks please!
Please stop with the cardboard covers, if there's really some cutbacks to be made, less special features, less releases, start with the useless extra cardboard covers on these DVD's.
- ace carolla, tejas | August 28, 2009
awesome kick ass action.
It was great best film yet really good action and moves.
- j, pa | September 10, 2009

very slick.
This truly done justice to one of the classics ive watched it three times already, nice one Bey.
- Brendan Duffy., Ealing London. | September 10, 2009
Great Transfer
Dragon Dynasty does it again. Despite being light on extras, it's a beautiful transfer of the film in it's original form. The film itself is a solid representation of the genre and recommended viewing for any fan.
- David Chen, Ellicott City, MD | September 12, 2009
Awsome!
Surprized Onk Bak was not on the list. Still waiting for Super Ninja. 3 PM channel 5 in the 80's kept me out of trouble.
